Situated in Anne Arundel County, Maryland, Edgewater is a census-designated place with a population made up of about 9,000 individuals according to the 2010 United States Census. Edgewater is located southwest of Annapolis, the capital of Maryland. It is considered a suburb of Annapolis due to the close proximity in which is lies to Annapolis. On the eastern side of town Edgewater is bordered by Mayo, the city of Riva to the west and Lothian to the south. Edgewater also lies west of South River.

There are many activities available for both residents and individuals visiting Edgewater. Edgewater Park, Loch Haven Park, and Mayo Beach Park all offer amenities such as baseball fields, tennis courts, basketball courts, fishing, wind surfing and playgrounds. Edgewater hosts many events to engage the community. Back to the Beach is an annual car, truck and motorcycle show. Due to Edgewater’s positioning against the South River, there are many opportunities for water activities such as sailing, skiing as well as many others.
