Davidsonville, located in central Maryland, is an unincorporated community in Anne Arundel County. The community is located in a semi-rural area, surrounded mostly by farms and suburban-like developments. Davidsonville was originally home to Algonquian Native American tribes before it was settled by European colonists. Davidsonville is located at the intersection of two Maryland routes, Davidsonville Road and Central Avenue. The National Register of Historic Places put the Davidsonville Historic District on its list in 1992.

Davidsonville is one of many communities located in Maryland that are full of history, with its roots dating back to the 17th and 18th centuries. Located off of Harwood Road, the Roedown Plantation was built by Major William Brogden, a soldier of the American Revolution. In 1760, it is said that General George Washington stayed in the home. Today, the Marlborough Hunt Races, an annual steeplechase event, is hosted at the plantation, drawing nearly 5,000 spectators each year.

The community has various educational opportunities. Davidsonville Elementary School serves approximately 600 students that range from K through 5th grade. Central Middle School and South River High School, both located in Edgewater, Maryland, serve the older students of Davidsonville.
