About Crofton, MD - Happy to be your hometown Heating & Air Conditioning Contractor!

Crofton, located in Anne Arundel County, is a census-designated place and planned community located in the state of Maryland. Situated west of Annapolis, the capital Maryland, Crofton was established in 1964 and has a population of about 27,000. Crofton is 34 miles south of Baltimore, 24 miles north-east of Washington, D.C. and 10 miles west of Annapolis.

Crofton’s history of establishment is rather unique. The community was built when the Crawford Corporation accumulated more than 1,600 acres of land in 1963 and announced it would then build a community which would become Crofton. Crofton was officially founded in the fall of 1964. In July of 2007, the community was named as one the “100 Best Places to Live” in the country by Money magazine. Crofton was named again by Money magazine in 2011.

The community is served by the Anne Arundel County Public Schools system. There are seven schools that serve students K-12 within the school system. Anne Arundel Community College serves individuals seeking higher education opportunities. The United States Naval Academy, a four-year coeducational federal service academy, is located 13 miles from Crofton. Also, St. John’s Liberal Arts College is located west of Crofton in Annapolis.

Crofton sees a good amount of rain throughout the year. The month of May tends to see the greatest amount of rainfall when the average amount of rain is over 4 ½ inches. Temperatures vary throughout the year, with summer months seeing daytime temperatures average in the mid to low-80s and winter months experiencing daytime temperatures ranging from the low to mid-40s. An efficiently running furnace and HVAC system will be necessary during the warmer and cooler times of the year. Residents will find it wise to have both these systems inspected by a professional to ensure they are running at their peak potential in order to keep indoor temperatures at comfortable levels.
